New MD - Andrew Dennis

The Band wish to announce that following a career change, which necessitated working evenings/nights, Toby Bannan has resigned as their Musical Director. Thanks The band would like to publicly thank Toby for all his hard work over the last 2 years during a particularly difficult period. The band are delighted to welcome back Andrew Dennis as new Musical Director, who previously conducted the band between 2000-2002, during one of their most successful periods. Looking forward The band are looking forward to working with Andrew again and have already seen a positive move forward with two new players joining the band since Andrew’s return." Andrew has agreed to take Chapeltown in addition to his commitment as the new Musical Director at Shirland Welfare Training Band.

Newsblog?

We've changed the way we update news on the web site. To make it easier for all members of the Band to post news (after all, it's not always me that knows what's happening), the news is now driven from a database that Band members can post to via this web site. The newsblog (on the left) will show the recent postings. The news page will (eventually) show an archive of all postings to the blog. The newsblog interface is here and is available to any Band member with a username and password. The feature has been tested on IE6 and Firefox 1.0. If you spot any incompatabilities, please let me know. I have other ideas for the site in the pipeline .

Player register

If you're a current or former player of the Band, you can register (by emailing me) to have access to our current and former player register. Access is by username and password only to keep the Bad Guys out.

Bits not working?

Having been looking recently at a few of the local band web sites, I've been upset by the number of broken links, "404 page not found errors" etc. Please, if you find any on the Band web site, let me know. I'll try and fix them as soon as possible. I know there's nothing worse than visiting a site where half the links don't work and pages fail to load or have missing pictures. Also, if you're a fellow bander and see something on here that appeals to you and you'd like to know more about, advice is free! As a matter of course, I check the pages with IE6 and Firefox. I also test using Konqueror on Linux. The newsblog has been tested on all three browsers.

Want one of our recordings?

All our recordings (CDs and tapes) that are listed on the recordings page are available by post direct from me. There's a postal address and prices on that page. Please email me if you have any questions. I'll generally respond within 24 hours. Alternatively, we take some to most jobs - just come and ask.

For the occasional visitor, I've just started archiving the news that I put on here on to the news page. I'll try and remember to keep up with the practice.

Player vacancies

We are always please to hear from competent players who may be interested in playing with a Yorkshire Area band. Check out the contact page for various ways of getting in touch with us. We're especially interested in hearing from percussionists. If you're a bit of a banger, or you know your maracas from your marimba, give us a bell please!
