It's always been one of my ambitions to holiday on a narrowboat, and the opportunity came to pass in October 2005.
It was such a relaxing holiday, we're already making plans for another trip. In the meantime, you can read all about our first trip on the Ashby Canal here.
I've also got some pictures and a page about the Vazon sliding bridge over the Keadby Canal which you may find interesting.
Whilst trawling around a few weeks ago, I came across the Inland Waterways Helmsmans Certificate - a course moderated by the Royal Yachting Association. Seeing as I'm still what you'd call an inexperienced boater, only having "done it" for a couple of days, I've decided to take the plunge (not literally I hope!) and book a course with Terry Robertson of TR Boat Handling in June '06. I'll let you know how I get on!
If you fancy reading about a determined group of narrowboaters, try the exploits of the Tuesday Night Club for size.
